உலகம் தழீஇய தொட்பம் மலர்தலும் கூம்பலும் இல்ல தறிவு.

English explanation

To secure the friendship of the great is true wisdom; it is (also) wisdom to keep (that friendship unchanged, and) not opening and closing (like the lotus flower)

உலகத்து உயர்ந்தவரை நட்பாக்கி கொள்வது சிறந்த அறிவு, முன்னே மகிழ்ந்து விரிதலும் பின்னே வருந்திக் குவிதலும் இல்லாத அறிவு.

சாலமன் பாப்பையா

உலகை நட்பாக்கிக் கொள்வது அறிவு; நட்பின் ஆரம்பத்தில் பெரிதாக மகிழ்வதும், நாளடைவில் வாடுவதும் இல்லாது. எப்போதும் ஒரே சீராக இருப்பது அறிவு.

The Constant Friendship

The story illustrates that gaining a mentor's friendship is important, but maintaining it with consistency—rather than being hot and cold like a flower—is the mark of true wisdom.
