About NilaTales

நிலா என்றால் நிலவு. கதை என்றால் சொல்லப்படும் செய்தி. நிலா கதைகள் என்பது நிலவொளியில் சொல்லப்படும் கதைகள் — தூக்க நேரத்திற்கு முன், விளக்கு ஒளியில், அம்மா அப்பா பாட்டி தாத்தா சொல்லும் கதைகள்.

Nila means moon. Tales means story. NilaTales is stories told under moonlight — bedtime stories from amma, appa, paatti, and thatha.

NilaTales is a quiet place for Tamil-speaking children (ages 6–12) and the grown-ups who read with them. We tell three kinds of stories:

  • திருக்குறள் கதைகள் — Valluvar's 1330 couplets, one short story at a time.
  • பஞ்சதந்திர கதைகள் — the classic animal fables from the five tantras.
  • கதைகள் — original moral tales and regional folktales.

Plus comics, lullabies, and printable activities so every story can be touched, drawn, and re-read at bedtime.

A sister site of NitviTalks

NilaTales is a sister site of NitviTalks, where a 10-year-old teaches electronics, coding, robotics, AI, and English through short videos. Both sites are part of the Kingspath family of learning projects.
