The Mark of a Kind Heart

In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Arjun. His grandfather was known for his great wisdom. One afternoon, Arjun asked, 'Grandpa, how can I know if someone is truly a great person?' His grandfather smiled and said, 'True greatness isn't about power or wealth, Arjun. It is about how you treat those who can do nothing for you. Come, let us walk.' As they strolled through the forest, they found a small sparrow lying on the ground, unable to fly because its wing was hurt. Arjun's first instinct was to walk past it, but his grandfather gently whispered, 'Look closely, Arjun. It feels pain just like we do.' Arjun knelt down and carefully scooped the tiny bird into his hands, treating it with extreme tenderness. A little later, they saw a stray puppy whimpering near a dry bush, thirsty and tired. Arjun quickly ran to a nearby stream, filled a small bowl, and brought it to the puppy. Seeing the puppy lap up the water happily made Arjun's heart swell with joy. His grandfather said, 'Arjun, when you show kindness to every living creature, you are walking the path of the truly virtuous.' Arjun realized that day that being a good person means having a heart that feels for all life.
