The Bitter Harvest

In a peaceful village lived two friends, Arjun and Vikram. Arjun was a hardworking boy who found joy in the small things he earned through his own effort. Vikram, however, always felt restless seeing what others possessed. One summer, the village announced a grand competition where the winner would receive a chest of gold coins. Vikram became obsessed with winning, not for the glory, but to have more than Arjun. Driven by greed, Vikram secretly sabotaged Arjun's project to ensure his own victory. When the results were announced, Vikram was declared the winner. But as he held the gold, a heavy feeling settled in his heart. He couldn't enjoy the coins because every time he looked at them, he remembered his dishonesty and the look of disappointment in Arjun's eyes. The gold felt cold and meaningless. Arjun, though he didn't win the prize, felt a deep sense of peace and pride in his honest work. Vikram realized that wealth gained through covetousness is like a fruit that tastes bitter no matter how bright it looks.
