Kari's Lost Toy

In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Kari. Kari had a favorite wooden toy horse that he carried everywhere. One afternoon, while playing near a deep, narrow crevice in the rocks, his toy slipped and fell deep inside. Kari was heartbroken. He sat by the edge of the crevice every single day, staring down at the toy. He refused to play with his friends or enjoy the sunny afternoons. He kept thinking, 'I must have my toy back, I cannot live without it.' Because he refused to let go of his desire for that toy, the sadness of losing it clung to him like a shadow. He became a lonely, unhappy boy. It was only when Kari finally realized that holding onto the memory of the toy was causing more pain than the toy itself, and he decided to let it go, that his sadness began to fade. As soon as he stopped longing for what was lost, he found joy in the world around him again.
