Once upon a time, there was a prosperous kingdom called Golden Valley. It was ruled by King Vikram, who was known for his bravery and great wealth. One afternoon, two men, a wealthy merchant named Samuel and a poor farmer named Mani, came to the court with a dispute over a piece of land. Samuel, wanting more land, lied and said, 'Your Majesty, this land belongs to me; Mani has stolen it!' Mani, with tears in his eyes, pleaded, 'No, King, this land has been in my family for generations.' Instead of investigating the truth, King Vikram was swayed by Samuel's expensive gifts and quick judgment. He ruled in favor of Samuel. The villagers, seeing this injustice, lost all faith in the King. One by one, families began to leave the kingdom. Without farmers to work the land, the economy collapsed, and the royal treasury emptied. King Vikram realized too late that by perverting justice, he had lost both his riches and his people.

The story illustrates how the King's hasty and unfair decision led to the loss of both his prosperity and his people, mirroring Kural 554. The king, who, without reflecting (on its evil consequences), perverts justice, will lose at once both his wealth and his subjects
