The Hesitant Heart

In a peaceful village lived a kind farmer named Samuel. He had a heart of gold and always wanted to help those in need. However, his wife, Sarah, was very strict about money and disliked any unplanned spending. One afternoon, an elderly neighbor, Mr. Thomas, fell ill and desperately needed funds for medicine. Samuel's friend, David, approached him and said, 'Samuel, let's pool our savings to help Mr. Thomas today.' Samuel felt a strong urge to help, but a sudden fear gripped him. He thought, 'If I spend this money, Sarah will be furious. There will be an argument at home.' Paralyzed by the fear of his wife's reaction, Samuel chose to stay silent and did nothing. That evening, Sarah saw a news report about the struggles of the local elderly. She realized that Samuel had hesitated to help out of fear of her temper. She sat him down and said softly, 'My dear, if we let fear of others dictate our kindness, we lose the beauty of being good people.' Samuel realized his mistake. From that day on, he learned to prioritize doing good over the fear of conflict.
