In the heart of a lush, green forest stood a magnificent old banyan tree. Around this tree, a community of rabbits, squirrels, and pigeons lived in harmony. However, their peace was constantly broken by a large, dark snake that lived in the hollow at the tree's base. This snake was quite a bully; it would steal food, frighten the young ones, and raid the nests of the birds.
One afternoon, the animals gathered in secret. "We cannot live like this forever," the rabbit whispered, trembling. "Every time I leave my burrow, I fear for my kits," the squirrel added. The pigeon sighed, "My eggs are never safe from that snake's shadow."
Watching them from a high branch was a wise old owl. She flew down and said, "Fighting him one by one will only make him stronger. But if you work together with a clever plan, you can drive him away for good."
The owl suggested they seek help from Kiki, the strong monkey who lived in the neighboring tree. The animals hurried to Kiki. "Please, Kiki! Help us!" the squirrel pleaded. Kiki looked worried. "The snake is fast and strong. I am brave, but I am not a fighter," Kiki replied.
The owl stepped forward. "Kiki, you don't need to fight him with strength. You only need to use your agility to help us with a trick." The owl's plan was simple: Kiki was to bring small honeycombs to the snake's entrance every day.
For a week, Kiki followed the plan. He carefully placed fresh honeycombs near the snake's hole. The snake, lured by the sweet scent, would rush out to feast. He became quite lazy and spent all his time waiting for the next honey treat, losing his edge.
On the eighth day, the owl gave the final instruction. "Today, we do not bring honey. Bring the wasp nest."
Kiki carefully carried a large, heavy wasp nest and placed it right in front of the snake's lair. Driven by hunger and habit, the snake lunged at the nest to bite into it. Suddenly, a swarm of angry wasps erupted from the nest! They stung and chased the snake relentlessly. The snake, terrified and stinging, scrambled away into the deep, dark parts of the forest, never to return.
The forest was finally at peace. The rabbits played freely, the squirrels gathered nuts without fear, and the pigeons nested safely once more. The animals realized that while the owl provided the wisdom, it was their cooperation that truly saved their home.
