In a kingdom filled with prosperity and peace, a kind King and Queen lived happily, though their hearts were heavy because they had no children. After years of prayer, a beautiful baby girl was born to them. To celebrate this miracle, the King invited all the celestial guardians of the land to a grand feast. However, in his excitement, he forgot to invite one guardian, a shadow spirit who felt deeply insulted.
At the feast, the shadow spirit appeared with a cold fury. "Since you have forgotten me, I shall bring a shadow to your joy!" she declared. "When this princess turns sixteen, the touch of something sharp will send her into a sleep that no medicine can wake her from!"
The other guardians, feeling remorseful, offered a blessing to balance the curse. "No sharp object shall harm her by accident, and if she does fall into the slumber, only the touch of a brave and pure-hearted prince can break the spell."
Years passed, and the princess grew into a graceful young woman. One afternoon, while walking in the palace gardens, she saw an old gardener struggling with a heavy wooden wheel. Wanting to be helpful, she approached him. "Let me assist you, elder," she said kindly. The gardener smiled and handed her a small, silver needle to untie a knot on the wheel. As she reached for it, the needle pricked her finger. Instantly, the princess's eyes closed, and she fell into a deep, magical sleep.
The kingdom was devastated. The guardians realized that the prince might take a long time to arrive. To prevent the kingdom from falling into decay while waiting, they cast a spell to put everyone in the palace into a gentle sleep as well. The palace became silent, overgrown with vines and flowers, forgotten by time.
A century later, a courageous young prince from a distant land arrived. Despite the warnings of the locals to avoid the ruins, his curiosity led him inside. There, amidst the silent halls, he found the princess resting as if she were merely dreaming. He gently took her hand. In an instant, the magic broke! The princess opened her eyes, and as if waking from a long nap, the King, Queen, and all the servants stirred back to life. The King, overjoyed to have his family back, welcomed the prince as a hero and eventually entrusted him with the kingdom, uniting the two families in joy.
