In a prosperous kingdom, King Vikram ruled with wisdom, supported by his brilliant minister, Somnath. Their reputation for fairness and intelligence spread far and wide. This fame sparked jealousy in King Dharma, a neighboring ruler who wanted to humiliate them.
King Dharma sent a challenging letter: "I demand a wonder. Send me a large, magical wonder captured inside a small clay pot."
King Vikram was troubled. "How can anyone trap a wonder inside a vessel? It is an impossible task meant to mock us," he sighed. But Somnath, calm and composed, suggested a plan. "Your Majesty, let us reply that the wonder is being prepared and will arrive in three months. This will give us time to show them true wisdom."
As the months passed, Somnath worked quietly in the royal gardens. He placed a sturdy clay pot near a growing pumpkin vine. He carefully guided a tiny, young pumpkin bud through the narrow neck of the pot.
Day by day, the pumpkin grew inside the container. Because it was protected by the pot, it expanded to fill the entire space, taking on the shape of the vessel itself. By the end of the third month, a magnificent, large pumpkin was firmly nestled inside the pot.
Somnath sent the pot to King Dharma. When the jealous king opened the package, he gasped in disbelief. He saw a massive pumpkin that had grown perfectly within the confines of the small pot. He realized that Somnath had not just sent an object, but had used nature and patience to create a real wonder.
Overcome with shame for his trickery, King Dharma sent a letter of apology to King Vikram and a message of great respect to Somnath, acknowledging that true intelligence can solve any riddle.
