The Silent Strength

In a peaceful village lived two friends, Karthik and Rohan. Karthik was a quiet boy who sometimes made small mistakes, while Rohan loved to talk about everyone else's business. One afternoon, during the village fair, Karthik’s father accidentally forgot to pay a merchant for a basket he had bought. Rohan found out and immediately began whispering to a group of neighbors, 'Did you hear what Karthik's father did? He is so careless!' Karthik felt deeply hurt hearing his friend spread rumors. Instead of arguing, Karthik went to his father, helped him settle the debt, and corrected the mistake. The next day, as Rohan was again trying to gossip about Karthik's family, the village elder walked by. The elder said, 'Karthik's father may have made a mistake, but he is a man of dignity because he never speaks ill of others behind their backs.' Rohan felt ashamed. He realized that while making mistakes is human, keeping one's tongue from backbiting is a true mark of character. From that day on, Rohan stopped gossiping and learned to focus on his own actions.
