The Loss of Respect

In a peaceful village lived a young man named Arjun. He was known for his kindness and wisdom, and everyone in the village held him in high regard. One evening, during a grand village festival, Arjun found himself surrounded by a group of boys who were making fun of the village elder and spreading silly rumors just to get a laugh. Wanting to fit in and be the center of attention, Arjun joined them and made a boastful, untrue comment about the elder. The next morning, the truth came out through a community announcement, revealing the elder's selfless act of charity. The villagers realized that Arjun had spoken vain and hurtful words. Slowly, the warmth in people's eyes changed to disappointment. Even though Arjun was intelligent, his careless words had stripped him of his dignity. Feeling deeply ashamed, Arjun realized that words, once spoken, cannot be taken back. He vowed to speak only what is true and meaningful.
