In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Leo. Leo loved toys more than anything. One sunny afternoon, his friend Sam brought over a magnificent, shiny blue racing car. As Leo watched Sam play, a tiny, dark thought crept into his mind: 'What if I hid this car in my bag when Sam leaves?' He didn't actually touch the toy, but the thought wouldn't leave him alone. That night, Leo couldn't sleep. He felt a heavy, uncomfortable weight in his chest. He realized that even though he hadn't stolen anything, the mere intention felt like a mistake. The next morning, Leo went to Sam and said, 'Sam, yesterday I had a bad thought about your car. I'm sorry for even thinking it.' Sam smiled and hugged him, saying, 'It's okay, Leo. I'm glad you chose to be a good friend instead.' Leo felt a huge sense of relief, realizing that a clean mind is more precious than any toy.
The Shadow in the Mind
The story illustrates that the intention to steal is as harmful to one's character as the act itself. Even the thought (of sin) is sin; think not then of crafiily stealing the property of another
