In a peaceful valley lived a boy named Arjun. Arjun was incredibly smart; he could solve complex math problems and knew everything about stars and history. However, Arjun had a habit of speaking very harshly. He often corrected others in a way that made them feel small. One day, the village elders gathered to discuss how to build a new community well. Arjun had a brilliant idea about how to save water, but when he stood up to speak, he spoke with such arrogance and bluntness that the elders felt insulted rather than helped. Instead of listening to his great idea, they dismissed him because of his tone. His teacher, seeing this, sat him down and said, 'Arjun, your knowledge is like a treasure, but if you cannot share it kindly in a good gathering, that treasure remains locked and useless.' Arjun realized that being smart wasn't enough; he needed to learn how to speak with grace and respect.
The Gift of Kind Words
The story illustrates that even a highly learned person is ineffective if they cannot express their wisdom pleasantly in a respectful assembly. Those who cannot agreeably speak good things before a good assembly are indeed unprofitable persons inspite of all their various acquirements
