In a peaceful village lived a boy named Kevin. Kevin had a kind heart, but he had one big flaw: he made decisions too quickly without thinking. One day, a new boy named Ryan joined his school. Ryan seemed very cool and spoke very confidently. Kevin was instantly impressed and declared Ryan his best friend on the very first day.
Some of Kevin's other friends warned him, 'Kevin, you don't even know Ryan's character yet. Why are you being so close so fast?' But Kevin brushed them off, saying, 'Ryan is wonderful! There is nothing wrong with him.'
As time passed, Ryan began to take Kevin's things—his favorite pens and books—without asking and often lost them. One afternoon, Kevin’s precious sketchbook went missing. Ryan claimed he had accidentally put it in his bag and then 'lost' it. Instead of being angry, Kevin simply forgave him. However, soon after, Kevin discovered that Ryan had been spreading unkind rumors about him to the other students. Kevin felt deeply hurt and lonely. He realized that by not taking the time to truly understand Ryan, he had invited sadness into his life. He learned that true friendship requires careful observation, not just a quick smile.
