Karikalan's Costly Mistake

In a bright, bustling village lived a young man named Karikalan. He was hardworking, but he had one big flaw: he was incredibly impulsive. His best friend, Maran, was his complete opposite—calm, thoughtful, and always careful. One sunny afternoon, a traveling merchant arrived at the village market with a mysterious wooden chest. The merchant claimed the chest was filled with rare, sparkling gems. Karikalan’s eyes lit up. 'Maran, look! If we buy this now, we will be rich forever!' he exclaimed. Maran frowned and said, 'Wait, Karikalan. Why is he selling it so cheaply? Let’s inspect the chest properly before spending anything.' But Karikalan brushed him off. 'You are just being a coward!' he shouted, and quickly handed over all his savings to the merchant. When he finally pried the chest open, his heart sank. There were nothing but dried lumps of clay inside. By acting without thinking, Karikalan had lost all his hard-earned money and missed the chance to make a wise investment. He realized that folly is simply making choices that lead to loss instead of gain. He apologized to Maran and promised to think twice before acting ever again.
