The True Mark of Kindness

In a peaceful village lived a boy named Arjun. He was known for his gentle heart and helpful nature. In the same village lived a boy named Rohan. Rohan was not a friend to Arjun; in fact, he was often unkind and would make fun of Arjun whenever he had the chance. One sunny afternoon, during a village festival, Arjun was playing happily with his friends. Suddenly, Rohan came running into the clearing, tripping over a stone. A sharp thorn had pierced his foot, and he was bleeding and in great pain. Rohan sat on the ground, crying. The other children, remembering how Rohan had teased them, simply ignored him and continued their games. But Arjun did not hesitate. He rushed to Rohan’s side, gently removed the thorn, cleaned the wound with his handkerchief, and helped him walk back to his home. Rohan looked up, confused and tearful. 'Why are you helping me?' Rohan asked. 'I have never been kind to you.' Arjun smiled softly and said, 'You may not be my friend, but you are a person in pain. Being kind is not about who deserves it, but about who I am.' Rohan felt a deep sense of shame for his past behavior and thanked Arjun sincerely.
