The Golden Cage

In a peaceful valley lived a wealthy man named Samuel. He owned vast lands, many cattle, and a grand mansion. However, Samuel had a heavy heart filled with greed. He was so stingy that he would count every single grain of rice in his pantry. One rainy evening, a poor woman named Martha approached his gate, holding her shivering young son. She begged for just a small bowl of porridge to calm the child's hunger. Samuel watched them through a crack in his window. He had all the medicine in the world, but he felt a deep, hollow loneliness. As he sat in his silent mansion, Leo said softly, 'Grandpa, you have everything to live with, but nothing to live for. Wealth is meant to nourish lives, not just to be guarded like a prisoner.' Samuel looked at his piles of gold and finally understood. He realized that hoarding wealth while ignoring the suffering of others was a waste of a human life. He began to use his riches to build schools and help the needy, finally finding the peace he had always lacked.
