In a peaceful village lived a kind family—Arjun, Priya, and their little son, Rohan. One afternoon, while walking through a forest path, they discovered a tiny mongoose lying lifeless near a bush. Beside it, a small, shivering baby mongoose was crying for its mother.
Moved by pity, Priya decided to bring the orphan home. Arjun was hesitant. 'It is a predator, Priya. Even a small one could be dangerous to Rohan,' he warned. But they agreed to care for it, and Arjun watched the little creature closely. He made sure Rohan never played too close to the mongoose.
One evening, Arjun returned from work to find red stains on the doorstep. His heart raced with fear. As he stepped inside, the tiny mongoose limped out, its mouth stained with red. Thinking the creature had attacked his son, Arjun flew into a rage and struck it with a heavy stick. The little mongoose died instantly.
Suddenly, a sharp cry from the nursery startled him. Arjun rushed inside and froze. A large, venomous snake was coiled near Rohan’s cradle, ready to strike. The little mongoose had fought the snake with all its might to protect the baby, losing its life in the process. Arjun realized with heavy heart that the blood on the mongoose was from the snake, not his son. His haste had taken the life of a tiny hero.
