In a golden meadow near a quiet village, lived a little mouse named Milo. Milo was a kind-hearted soul who loved sharing his treasures. Nearby, in a cool, shaded pond, lived a frog named Pip. Milo and Pip were the best of friends. Every morning, Pip would hop over to Milo’s cozy burrow. Milo would share his finest seeds and grains, and they would enjoy a breakfast together under the warm sun. As evening approached, Pip would always return to his pond.
One bright morning, Pip had a sudden idea. 'I am always the one traveling to Milo's place,' he thought. 'Today, I shall host a grand feast at my pond and invite him over!' Pip rushed to Milo and excitedly said, 'My dear friend, you must come to my home today! I have prepared a magnificent feast just for you!'
Milo looked worried. 'But Pip, you are a water creature and can swim easily. I am a land mouse. I cannot travel long distances through wet and difficult paths. It would be very dangerous for me.'
Pip, wanting to show off his cleverness, suggested a plan. 'Do not worry! I have found a long, sturdy vine. I will tie one end to your leg and the other to mine. I will hop quickly, and you can simply ride along with me! It will be like a grand adventure!'
Trusting his friend, Milo agreed. Pip tied the vine tightly around both of them. Full of excitement, Pip began to hop vigorously across the field. In his rush to reach the pond, Pip became so caught up in his own jumping that he forgot how heavy Milo was and how much danger the little mouse was in. He didn't notice the terrain changing at all.
Suddenly, Pip reached the edge of a deep, wide pond and leaped right in with a loud splash! Because they were tied together, Milo was pulled straight into the deep water. Milo could not swim and began to struggle, gasping for air. As Milo floated helplessly, a large hawk circling high above spotted the movement in the water.
The hawk swooped down to grab the mouse. As it lifted Milo, the vine pulled Pip out of the water as well! The hawk, seeing two easy meals instead of one, caught both the mouse and the frog. Pip’s impulsive plan and lack of foresight had cost them both their lives.
The meadow fell silent once again, a reminder of the cost of acting without thinking.
Moral
Never rush into a decision based on impulse; always consider the consequences before acting.
