In a lush green valley, a wise mother goat lived with her four playful kids. The mother goat was not only kind but also very cautious. Every evening, before the kids went out to graze, she would remind them, "Stay close to each other, and never trust a stranger with a sweet tongue."
One sunny afternoon, while the kids were frolicking in the meadow, one tiny lamb named Lily got distracted by a bright, shimmering butterfly. She followed the butterfly further and further away from her siblings until she found herself near the edge of a dark forest.
Watching from behind a bush was a hungry fox. He saw Lily all alone and saw a perfect opportunity. He stepped out slowly, wearing a friendly smile, and said, "Hello, little one! Why are you all by yourself? Come with me to the clearing behind those rocks. I have found a bush filled with the sweetest berries and honey just for you!"
Lily was tempted by the idea of sweet treats. She almost stepped toward the fox, but suddenly, her mother’s warning echoed in her mind. She remembered that a predator might use kind words to hide a mean intention.
Realizing the fox was trying to trick her, Lily didn't stay to argue. She turned around and sprinted as fast as her little legs could carry her back to the safety of her mother. When she arrived, breathless and trembling, she told her mother everything.
The mother goat nuzzled her gently. "You were very brave and wise, Lily. That fox was trying to lure you away to hurt you. By listening to my words, you kept yourself safe." From that day on, Lily always made sure to stay within sight of her family.
