In a bustling valley lived a merchant named Silas. Silas was incredibly wealthy, possessing chests filled with shimmering gold and rare jewels. However, his wealth was also his curse. He was so terrified of losing his treasures that he spent every night counting his coins, unable to close his eyes for even a moment.

One day, while traveling to a distant market, Silas met a young man named Leo. Leo was a clever trickster who had been watching Silas from afar. He noticed the heavy, velvet pouch hanging from the merchant's belt and decided that this was his chance to strike. Leo approached Silas with a humble bow. "Master, I have realized that worldly possessions are but shadows. I wish to live a simple life of peace. Will you allow me to serve you as an apprentice?"

Silas was delighted. He thought, "A man who has no desire for money is the perfect person to guard my wealth!" He accepted Leo immediately.

As the days passed, Silas noticed something curious. No matter how tired he was, Leo would fall into a deep, peaceful slumber every night. One evening, Silas asked him, "Leo, how is it that you sleep so soundly while I remain awake with worry?"

Leo smiled mischievously. "It is a secret technique, Master. It is a way to calm the mind by letting go of what we hold dear."

Silas, eager to find relief, asked, "Please, teach me this secret!"

Leo led him to a clearing in the forest where a massive, ancient oak tree stood. "To learn this, Master, you must perform a ritual. Take the object you cherish most in this world, place it beneath this tree, and walk around it five times in silence."

Silas took his pouch of gold and followed Leo to the tree. He placed the heavy bag on the mossy ground and began his slow, meditative walk around the trunk. While Silas was focused on his steps, Leo grabbed the pouch and vanished into the thicket.

When Silas finished his walk and turned around, the pouch was gone. "Leo! Where is my gold?" he cried out in panic.

Leo’s voice drifted from the shadows, sounding calm and amused. "Master, you could not sleep because you were holding onto your gold too tightly in your heart. Now that it is gone, look at your hands—they are empty, but your heart feels lighter, does it not? True peace comes when you stop fearing the loss of things!"

Silas stood stunned. He realized that the anxiety of protecting his wealth had stolen his life's comfort. Though he had lost his gold, he felt a strange sense of relief. That very night, for the first time in years, Silas slept peacefully without a single worry.
