On the edge of a quiet village, near a vast forest, lived an elderly woman named Meenakshi and her playful puppy, Jimmy.
One evening, while they were out for a walk, Jimmy suddenly dashed towards the dark woods. Meenakshi hurried after him, only to find herself standing before a crumbling, ancient stone structure. A weathered wooden sign hung at the entrance, reading: "DANGER! DO NOT ENTER!"
Meenakshi felt a shiver of fear, but her curiosity was even stronger. "What could be inside that old ruin?" she wondered. "Could there be hidden gold, or perhaps a secret treasure waiting to be found?"
When her husband, Somu, returned home that evening, she told him everything. Somu, a practical and calm man, shook his head. "Meenakshi, if there is a warning, we must respect it. It is not worth the risk. Let us forget about it," he said firmly before heading to bed.
However, the mystery haunted Meenakshi. For the next two nights, she couldn't stop thinking about the ruins. Finally, on a moonless night, while Somu was fast asleep, she grabbed a small lantern and quietly crept out toward the forest.
Inside the ruins, the air was cold and silent. As she cautiously navigated through the shadows, she reached a large, dusty hall. In the center of the room sat a heavy wooden chest. "This is it!" she whispered, her heart racing. "The treasure must be inside!"
With trembling hands, she lifted the lid of the chest. But instead of shimmering gold or sparkling jewels, she found only a single rolled-up piece of parchment. She unfolded it and read the words: "To the curious intruder: There is no treasure here, and there is no danger. Why did you come all this way? Go back home and get some sleep! - Somu."
Meenakshi froze. It was a clever prank set up by Somu to keep her away from the dangerous ruins! Feeling both silly and embarrassed, she hurried back home. When she arrived, Somu was waiting with a knowing smile and a gentle reminder to stay safe.
Moral
Curiosity without caution can lead to unnecessary embarrassment.
