Long ago, in a prosperous kingdom, lived a King who had eleven young princes and one elder princess named Elara. Since their mother was no longer with them, Elara had become their protector, teacher, and guiding light. She loved her brothers dearly and ensured they grew up with kindness and courage.
However, peace was broken when the King remarried. The new Queen was a wicked sorceress who envied the bond between the siblings. To remove the clever Elara from the palace, the King sent her to a distant land for her studies. Once Elara was gone, the Queen cast a dark spell, transforming the eleven princes into beautiful white swans. The brothers, unable to speak, could only fly away into the vast sky.
When Elara returned from her studies, the Queen struck again. She used a shadow spell to disguise Elara’s face, making her look unrecognizable. The King, not knowing his daughter, ordered her to leave the kingdom. Heartbroken, Elara wandered into the deep forest to find her brothers. There, she discovered a shimmering magical spring. As she drank the water, her true, beautiful face returned. An old wise woman appeared and explained the Queen's cruelty, telling Elara that only a magical veil woven from rare herbs could break the spell.
Elara and her swan brothers worked tirelessly. During the day, the swans gathered the herbs, and at night, they turned back into humans to help Elara sew the veil. The wise woman warned, 'No one must speak until the veil is complete, or the magic will break.' A neighboring Prince and his loyal Captain observed them from the shadows. Seeing the brothers' struggle, the Captain secretly gathered more herbs and delivered them to the forest to ensure they had enough.
As the sun rose, the princes donned the magical veil and instantly transformed back into humans. Elara immediately went to the King and revealed the Queen's deception. Realizing his mistake, the King banished the sorceress to the dungeons. The kingdom was restored to peace, and the King honored the neighboring Prince and his Captain for their silent, noble help.
