In a lush green valley, a wise farmer lived happily with his two sons, Arjun and Rohan. They managed a vast farm together, but Arjun, the elder son, often felt a sense of injustice. He believed his father favored Rohan, giving him more interesting tasks while assigning Arjun the repetitive chores.
One evening, unable to contain his frustration, Arjun approached his father. "Father, do you not trust me as much as you trust Rohan? It feels like you give him all the important responsibilities!" he complained.
Instead of getting angry, the father decided to teach him a lesson through a practical exercise. "Arjun, let us test something. Go to the neighboring farm and ask if they have any hens for sale," the father suggested.
Arjun hurried to the farm. He returned a short while later and said, "Yes, Father, they have hens for sale."
"Go back and find out how much a single hen costs," the father instructed.
Arjun went again and returned, "They said one hen is fifty rupees."
Then, the father called Rohan to his side. "Rohan, please go to the same farm and find out about the hens," he said.
Rohan set off with a bright smile. When he returned, he looked quite pleased. "Father, they have ten hens available. The price for one is fifty rupees, but I asked them, 'If we buy all ten at once, can you give us a better price?' They agreed to sell them to us for forty-five rupees each!"
Arjun sat in silence, realizing his mistake. He had merely gathered information, but Rohan had used his presence and communication to create a better outcome. He understood that being smart wasn't just about knowing the facts, but about how you use them. From that day on, Arjun stopped feeling jealous and started working alongside Rohan, learning how to turn every situation into an opportunity.
