Arjun was walking along the golden sands of a vast beach as the sun began to set. As he strolled, he noticed an elderly man bending down repeatedly, picking something up from the shore and tossing it back into the ocean.
Curious, Arjun approached him and asked, "Excuse me, sir, what are you doing?"
The old man looked up with a gentle smile. "Look closely, child. These are starfish. The strong waves have washed them onto the shore, and without the water, they cannot survive in this heat."
Arjun looked around. The beach was vast, and hundreds, perhaps thousands, of starfish were scattered across the sand. He felt a sense of doubt. "But sir," Arjun said, "there are so many of them! You are just one person. Even if you work all day, you can only save a few. How can your small effort possibly make a difference to all these creatures?"
The old man didn't argue. Instead, he picked up a single, small starfish, held it carefully in his palm, and gently tossed it into a cool wave. He turned to Arjun and said, "You are right, I cannot save them all. But for this one starfish, the world has changed completely. It is alive again."
Arjun stood in silence, realizing that even the smallest kindness is never wasted. He realized that while we cannot solve every problem in the world, we can certainly change the world for someone through our small actions.
Moral
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
