Deep within a lush green forest, there lay a sparkling blue pond. It was a peaceful home to many different kinds of fish. Because the forest was so quiet and far from people, the fish lived without any fear, spending their days leaping through the water and playing together.
One evening, two hunters wandered near the pond. As they watched the fish splashing happily, their eyes lit up. "Look at all those fish!" one hunter whispered. "If we bring our large nets early tomorrow morning, we can catch plenty of them!"
A few small fish swimming near the edge heard this conversation. Terrified, they rushed to tell the rest of the pond. However, many of the older, larger fish laughed at them. "We have lived here safely for years," they boasted. "There is no danger here. Why should we leave our beautiful home for a silly rumor?"
But a small group of clever fish knew better. Instead of arguing, they quietly swam through a narrow, winding stream that connected their pond to a nearby lake. They moved carefully under the cover of darkness.
When the sun rose the next morning, the hunters arrived and cast their heavy nets into the pond. All the fish that had stayed behind were trapped. As they struggled in the nets, they realized too late that the small fish had been right. They deeply regretted not listening to the warning.
