Near a sparkling river, a tortoise named Kasi lived among the lush green reeds. Kasi was very proud of his hard, thick shell. Instead of being happy with himself, he spent most of his time mocking the other animals for their small homes and simple lives.
One sunny afternoon, a little sparrow named Chittu was busy building a nest on a branch of a large banyan tree. Chittu was carefully weaving soft grass and tiny twigs to make a cozy home.
Watching this, Kasi crawled slowly toward the tree and laughed mockingly. "Hey Chittu! What are you doing with those flimsy sticks? That nest looks so weak. A tiny breeze will blow it away in a second! Just look at me. My shell is like a fortress. Nothing can break it!"
Chittu stopped her work and looked down at Kasi with a calm smile. "Kasi, your shell is indeed strong, and that is wonderful. But your shell is a lonely place. You can only live inside it by yourself. My nest, however, is a place of joy. My friends and relatives can visit me, rest here, and we can sing together. A home is not just about being strong; it is about having a space to share love and friendship."
Kasi felt a sudden sting of shame. He realized that while he was safe, he was also very lonely because of his arrogance. Feeling embarrassed for making fun of Chittu's hard work, Kasi quietly tucked his head in and crawled away into the bushes.
Moral
True strength lies in kindness and sharing, not just in being unbreakable.
