One evening, three close friends—Vimal, Rahul, and Arjun—set out on a long road trip. Vimal took the driver's seat, eager to reach their destination. As the hours passed, the moonlight began to fade, and Vimal’s eyes grew heavy with exhaustion. Noticing this, Rahul suggested, "Vimal, you have been driving for a very long time. Please rest, and I will take over the wheel."
However, Vimal, driven by a sense of duty, replied, "No, Rahul. I am still fine. I want to make sure we get everyone home safely."
As they drove through a quiet, winding countryside road, a cow suddenly stepped into the path of the car. Vimal slammed on the brakes, but the car grazed the animal. The cow let out a startled cry and limped toward the bushes.
Panic set in. Vimal stopped the car immediately and stepped out. "What have we done?" he whispered, feeling a deep sense of guilt. Arjun and Rahul joined him, looking at the injured animal.
"We cannot just drive away," Arjun said firmly. "We must find the owner and make things right."
They waited by the roadside in the dim light of the moon. After some time, a local farmer approached them, looking worriedly for his livestock. Vimal approached the man with great respect and explained exactly what had happened.
"Sir, I am deeply sorry. My car accidentally hit your cow," Vimal said sincerely. "Please forgive us. We will take care of all the medical expenses for your animal."
The farmer, a kind-hearted man, smiled gently. "It was an accident, sir. Do not worry too much. The cow will be fine."
Even though the farmer forgave them, Vimal’s conscience wouldn't let him rest. He carefully noted down the farmer's name and village. The next morning, the very first thing Vimal did was send a letter along with the money required for the cow's treatment to the farmer. His decision to take responsibility showed the true meaning of integrity.
