In a lush green forest, there lived a fox named Loki. Loki was not like the other animals who worked hard to gather food for the winter. Instead, he was lazy and cunning. He spent his days watching the other animals hide their fruits and nuts, waiting for the perfect moment to steal them. Because of his dishonest ways, the other forest creatures always kept a watchful eye on their belongings and stayed away from him.
Chintu, a wise little rabbit, noticed how Loki’s greed was affecting the peace of the forest. 'Loki needs to learn that stealing is not a way to live,' Chintu thought to himself.
Chintu decided to teach Loki a lesson. He began working in a small clearing at the edge of the forest. He told everyone, 'I am going to grow the sweetest carrots in the whole forest!' Chintu worked tirelessly, digging the soil and watering the ground every single day. Loki, watching from behind the bushes, thought, 'That rabbit is working so hard just to feed me! Soon, I will have a feast all to myself.'
As the weeks passed, bright orange carrots began to pop out of the ground. Loki couldn't wait any longer. One dark night, he crept into Chintu's garden, his eyes fixed on the delicious carrots. In his rush to grab as many as possible, Loki didn't notice the thick, prickly brambles that Chintu had carefully planted between the carrot rows.
As Loki scrambled through the garden, the sharp thorns of the brambles scratched his fur and skin. Within minutes, his whole body began to itch and sting terribly. He rolled on the ground in discomfort, unable to stop the irritation. Chintu appeared from the shadows and said, 'You thought you could take what I worked so hard for without effort, Loki. I planted those prickly bushes to protect my garden from thieves like you.'
The other animals gathered around, watching the fox struggle. They were glad to see that Loki’s trickery had finally caught up with him. Realizing his mistake, Loki promised to stop stealing and to start working for his own food like everyone else.
Moral
Stealing from others brings nothing but trouble; hard work is the only true path to success.
