In a small village near a vast forest lived a woodcutter named Somu. He was a simple man who relied entirely on his old iron axe to earn his living. One sunny morning, while he was working deep in the woods, the wooden handle of his axe suddenly snapped with a loud crack.
Somu sat on a mossy rock, feeling helpless. "What will I do now?" he cried out to the empty forest. "Without my axe, I cannot cut wood, and without wood, I cannot feed my family!"
His cries reached the ears of a massive, ancient Banyan tree nearby. Feeling pity for the man, the tree spoke in a low, rustling voice, "Do not weep, Somu. I can help you. I have a very strong, sturdy branch. You may cut it off and use it to make a new handle for your axe."
Somu was overjoyed. He thanked the tree and quickly used his broken axe to cut the branch. He fashioned a perfect new handle and felt ready to work again. The next day, Somu returned to the forest with his repaired axe. However, the new handle made the axe much more powerful than before.
As Somu approached the Banyan tree to continue his work, the tree began to tremble with fear. "Oh no!" the tree whispered to itself. "I should have kept silent. I tried to be kind, but my help has invited my own destruction!"
Before the tree could do anything, Somu, focused on his task, began cutting the branches near the trunk. The tree, having lost its strength, eventually fell to the ground. The tree's attempt to help without thinking of the consequences led to its end.
