The Light of True Knowledge

In a peaceful valley lived a young boy named Arjun. Arjun was incredibly bright; he could solve any math problem and recite any poem. He felt very proud of his books and his vast knowledge. One afternoon, while sitting under a large banyan tree, Arjun boasted to the village elder, 'Grandpa, I know almost everything there is to know!' The elder smiled gently and asked, 'Arjun, if a lamp shines brightly but forgets the oil that keeps it lit, is it still useful? What is the use of all your learning if it does not lead you to bow in gratitude to the Source of all wisdom?' Arjun fell silent. He realized that his intelligence was a gift, not something he had earned alone. He understood that true learning should make a person humble, not arrogant. From that day on, Arjun continued to study hard, but he also spent time in quiet reflection and gratitude. His knowledge no longer made him feel superior; instead, it made him a kinder, more thoughtful person.
