The Value of Honor

In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Arjun and his father, Ravi. Ravi was a hardworking and honest woodcutter. One afternoon, while working in the forest, a wealthy merchant approached Ravi. The merchant offered him a heavy bag of gold coins and said, 'Leave your axe behind and come work for me as a servant. I will pay you much more than you earn here.' For a moment, Ravi thought about the comfort the money could bring. But then he looked at his calloused hands and thought of his dignity. He realized that working under someone else's shadow just for money would strip him of his self-respect. He politely declined, saying, 'Sir, wealth is temporary, but my honor is my life.' Ravi continued his honest labor. Years later, the merchant lost his fortune due to his dishonest dealings and became a laughingstock in the village. However, Ravi was celebrated by everyone for his integrity and lived a life filled with respect and fame. He realized that living without honor is not truly living at all.
