The Eyes of Kindness

In a bright little village lived a boy named Arjun. Arjun loved singing more than anything else in the world. He practiced every day to prepare for the annual village festival. While Arjun had a voice like a nightingale, he had a habit of being indifferent to others. One afternoon, while walking to his practice, he saw an elderly man, Mr. Raghav, stumble and drop his basket of fruits. Arjun looked at him, but instead of helping, he thought, 'If I stop now, I will miss my practice time!' and walked away with a cold expression. An old teacher who saw this called Arjun aside. 'Arjun,' the teacher said gently, 'A beautiful song is useless if it lacks rhythm and harmony. In the same way, eyes that are bright and beautiful are useless if they do not hold kindness for others.' Arjun felt a pang in his heart. He realized that his talent meant nothing if he lacked compassion. From that day on, Arjun didn't just sing beautiful songs; he learned to look at the world with eyes full of warmth and helpfulness.
