In a peaceful village lived a kind-hearted boy named Arjun. Arjun was a talented artist, but he was also very trusting. His classmate, Rohan, always stayed close to him, appearing to be his best friend. In reality, Rohan was secretly jealous of Arjun's talent.
One summer, the village announced a grand painting competition. Arjun worked day and night on a masterpiece. Seeing this, Rohan approached him with a bright smile. 'Arjun, your talent is unmatched! You are definitely going to win. Here, take this special magic brush I bought for you. It will make your strokes perfect,' Rohan said warmly.
Arjun, touched by the gesture, thanked him and used the brush. However, the brush was poorly made; it leaked ink uncontrollably, ruining Arjun's beautiful painting just moments before the judging. Arjun sat by the river, feeling heartbroken.
His grandfather, who had seen the whole thing, sat beside him. 'Arjun,' he said gently, 'sometimes people use sweet words to hide a bitter intention. A true friend helps you succeed, but an enemy might give you a gift that leads to your failure.'
Arjun realized then that while Rohan's words were kind, his actions were meant to sabotage him. He learned that true friendship is seen in support, not just in flattering words.
