The True Garment

In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Arjun. Arjun was very proud of how he looked. One sunny afternoon, during the village festival, he wore a brand-new, shimmering silk shirt that everyone admired. He felt very important and handsome. However, Arjun had a small secret: he often told little lies to make himself look better or to avoid trouble. While walking through the fair, he saw a little girl crying because she had lost her favorite toy. Instead of helping her find it, Arjun lied and said, 'I saw someone take it far away,' just so he wouldn't have to spend his time helping. Later that evening, his wise friend, Rohan, noticed Arjun's bright shirt but also his sad eyes. Rohan said, 'Arjun, your shirt is beautiful and covers your body, but your unkind words and lies are like holes in your character that cannot be hidden.' Arjun realized that no matter how fine his clothes were, they couldn't hide the flaws in his heart. From that day on, Arjun focused on fixing his mistakes and being truthful, learning that a clean heart is the best thing one can wear.
