The Strength of Gentleness

In a peaceful valley lived a boy named Arjun. Arjun was talented and bright, but he had a habit of boasting about his achievements. He often thought he was better than everyone else. His father, a respected elder in the village, always taught him that true greatness comes from how we treat others. One day, during the village arts festival, Arjun won the first prize for his beautiful pottery. Instead of being happy, he looked at the other children and said, 'My work is perfect, yours is quite ordinary.' His father overheard this and took Arjun for a walk by the river. He pointed to a mighty oak tree and a soft patch of moss. 'Arjun,' his father said, 'The oak stands tall and strong, yet it provides shade for everyone. The moss stays low to the ground, yet it makes the forest beautiful and soft. If you want people to remember your name with respect, you must be humble. If you want our family's honor to grow, you must be kind to all.' Arjun realized that his pride was pushing people away. From that day on, he practiced modesty and kindness. He learned that being great wasn't about being above others, but about being good to them.
