In a lush green forest, a powerful tiger and a humble donkey lived near each other. One sunny afternoon, while resting near a meadow, the donkey suddenly claimed, "Look at these beautiful purple blades of grass!"
The tiger blinked in confusion. "What are you talking about? Grass is green, as it has always been."
But the donkey refused to back down. "No, no! You are simply not looking closely enough. Look at the shade! It is clearly purple!" The donkey argued with such confidence that the tiger began to doubt his own eyes.
Unable to settle the argument, they both decided to seek justice from the Great Lion, the King of the Forest. They approached the lion's den and explained their dispute. After listening, the lion looked at the donkey and said, "You are quite right. The grass is indeed purple. You have won this argument. You may go now."
The donkey, feeling very clever, trotted away with a proud skip in his step. Once the donkey was out of sight, the lion turned his stern gaze toward the tiger.
"Tell me, Tiger," the lion asked, "do you truly believe that grass is purple?"
"Of course not, Your Majesty," the tiger replied sheepishly. "But the donkey insisted so strongly."
"Then why did you waste your time and mine?" the lion thundered. "By engaging in a useless argument with someone who refuses to see the truth, you have shown a lack of wisdom. For wasting the King's time with such nonsense, you must spend the next ten days collecting and counting every single blade of grass in this clearing."
The tiger bowed his head in shame. He realized that arguing with a fool is a battle that no one can truly win.
Moral
It is a waste of time and energy to argue with those who refuse to accept the truth.
