In a vast, emerald forest, lived a mighty lion who believed his roar could shake the very stars. He walked with a heavy tread, proud of his strength and golden mane. One warm afternoon, the lion lay resting under the shade of a sprawling banyan tree.
Suddenly, a tiny fly began to buzz incessantly around the lion's nose. The lion opened one eye, annoyed. 'How dare you disturb my slumber, little creature? I am the King of this forest!' he growled. But the fly was not intimidated by the lion's massive claws or sharp teeth. It zipped around, landed on the lion's nose, and gave a sharp, stinging bite.
The lion lashed out with his huge paws, swiping at the air in frustration, but the fly was too quick. It danced just out of reach, mocking the great beast. The fly felt an incredible surge of pride. 'I have defeated the mighty King!' it thought triumphantly. 'No one is stronger than me!'
Blinded by its own perceived greatness, the fly began to fly wildly through the forest, boasting to anyone who would listen. In its rush to celebrate, it failed to notice a thin, silvery thread stretched between two branches. Before it could react, the fly crashed straight into a spider's web. The spider, waiting patiently, began to descend. The fly struggled to break free, but its pride had led it straight into a trap. It realized too late that even a small victory can lead to a great downfall if one becomes too arrogant.
Moral
Pride often leads to a sudden fall.
