A severe drought had gripped the great forest, leaving all the animals hungry and weak. To survive, a lion, a fox, and a wolf decided to form a hunting team to share a meal.
After days of searching, the wolf spotted a wild deer and chased it relentlessly. The fox used its speed to cut off the deer's escape routes, driving it straight toward the waiting lion. With one powerful leap, the lion successfully brought down the prey. It was a hard-won victory.
Once the hunt was over, the wolf prepared the meat, and the fox divided it into three equal portions. The lion immediately snatched the first portion, roaring, "I am the King of this forest, and the first share belongs to the King!" Without waiting, the lion grabbed the second portion too, declaring, "I am the strongest among you all, so this part is mine by right of strength!"
As the lion reached for the final portion, the wolf spoke up hesitantly, "Great King, we worked together as a team to catch this. Is it fair that you take everything for yourself?"
The lion, enraged by the challenge, lunged at the wolf. Seeing the danger, the fox calmly intervened, "Your Majesty, anger clouds judgment. I have stayed safe this long only because I know when to be quiet and observe."
The lion paused, realizing that the fox's wisdom was a force to be reckoned with. Recognizing that the fox was too clever to be easily intimidated, the lion decided to give the final portion to the fox to maintain peace.
Moral
Wisdom and caution are often more powerful than brute strength and greed.
