In the lush Green Valley forest, many animals lived in harmony. The animals there were very disciplined. Following the wisdom of their elders, they always made sure to save a portion of the food they gathered. They stored nuts, berries, and seeds in safe hollows to ensure they would never go hungry during the lean seasons.
However, there lived a crow named Kuro who was incredibly lazy. Instead of searching for his own food, Kuro preferred to wait for other animals to finish their work and then steal their stored supplies. As the animals realized someone was stealing from them, they became more careful and hid their food in much harder-to-reach places. This made Kuro’s life very difficult.
Rather than working hard, Kuro decided to use trickery. He flew over to the rabbit burrow and called out to them, "Dear Rabbits! I have some worrying news. I heard that the squirrels' stored nuts have turned poisonous! If you eat them, you might fall very ill. Please, give your food to me. I will taste everything first and tell you which ones are safe to eat. That way, you will stay healthy."
The leader of the rabbits was very wise and saw right through Kuro's scheme. He decided that Kuro needed a lesson he would never forget. The rabbit leader took a large peanut, carefully spread thick, sticky honey and pine resin inside it, and then sealed it shut. He approached Kuro and said, "Mr. Crow, please help us. Taste this special peanut and tell us if it is good or if it has gone bad."
Greedy and hungry, Kuro didn't hesitate for a second. He took a huge, forceful bite of the peanut. Immediately, the sticky honey and resin glued his beak shut! He tried to open his mouth, but it was stuck tight. He fluttered his wings in panic, unable to make a sound. The rabbit leader looked at him and said, "Did you think we were fools, Kuro? You wanted to trick us to get food without working. Since you are too lazy to find your own meals, this is the consequence of your greed."
Kuro felt deeply ashamed. He struggled for a long time until the stickiness finally loosened, and he flew away with his head held low. From that day on, Kuro learned that it is much better to work for what you need than to live by deception.

Laziness and dishonesty lead to embarrassment and trouble.
