In a peaceful village lived a young man named Kathir. Kathir was not a bad person, but he had a very bad habit: he was incredibly lazy. Instead of working in the fields or helping others, he spent his days resting under the shade of a large banyan tree, relying on the kindness of neighbors for his meals.
One sunny afternoon, a generous farmer gifted Kathir a large bag of golden grains. Kathir carefully poured the grains into a beautiful clay pot and placed it near his bed. As he lay down for a nap, his mind began to wander into a world of grand fantasies.
'If I sell these grains, I will have plenty of coins,' he thought with a smile. 'With those coins, I will buy a healthy cow. That cow will give me much milk, and I will sell the milk to buy even more cows. Soon, I will be the richest man in the entire valley!' He imagined himself wearing fine clothes and living in a grand house.
As he drifted deeper into his daydream, he became so lost in his imaginary wealth that he didn't notice his own movements. In his excitement to 'act out' his success in his sleep, his leg kicked out wildly.
With a loud 'CRASH!', the clay pot hit the ground and shattered into tiny pieces. The precious grains spilled everywhere, mixing with the dust and dirt. Kathir jumped up in horror. His beautiful dream had vanished along with the pot. He realized that while he was busy dreaming of a great future, he had failed to protect the small opportunity he actually had. Without hard work, even a single grain of luck can slip through one's fingers.
Moral
Dreams are beautiful, but only hard work turns them into reality.
