In a lush green forest lived a large bear named Bruno. Bruno was incredibly lazy. He would eat whatever he found and then spend the rest of the day sleeping. He never thought about the future or saving any food for a rainy day. Nearby, a colony of tiny ants lived, surviving on the small crumbs that Bruno accidentally dropped while eating.
The leader of the ants, Pip, watched Bruno with concern. 'He is so careless,' Pip thought. 'If a storm comes and he cannot find food, he will suffer. We must teach him the value of preparation.'
One sunny afternoon, while Bruno was snoring loudly under a tree, Pip gathered his entire army. They marched toward the sleeping bear and surrounded him in a large circle. Pip gave a signal, and one brave ant crawled up and gave Bruno’s ear a sharp nip.
'Ouch! What was that?' Bruno jumped up, rubbing his ear in pain. He looked around and saw thousands of tiny ants blocking his path. He tried to walk away, but the ants moved with him, forming an unbreakable line. 'Please, let me pass! I am hungry!' Bruno pleaded.
Pip stepped forward and said, 'We will not let you pass until you realize your mistake, Bruno. You live only for today, but life requires planning. We live on your leftovers, yet you do not care for your own future. If you had stored food, you wouldn't be in this trouble!'
Bruno spent the whole day hungry and restless. As the sun began to set, Pip approached him gently. 'We did not do this to hurt you, Bruno. We did it so you would learn. Please forgive us.'
Bruno felt a deep sense of regret. 'I am sorry, Pip. I see now that being lazy is dangerous.' From that day on, Bruno changed his ways. He became hardworking and always kept a secret stash of berries and honey in his cave. When the heavy monsoon rains arrived a few months later, making it impossible to roam the forest, Bruno was not worried. He sat comfortably in his cave, snacking on his stored food. He often looked at the ant hill and whispered a quiet 'thank you' to Pip for the lesson that saved him.
