Once, in a lush green valley, there lived a wealthy farmer with his three sons. When the farmer passed away, his two eldest sons, who were very clever and ambitious, divided all the lands, cattle, and gold among themselves. The youngest son, who was often seen as simple and lacking direction, was left with nothing but the family's old black cat. Without any wealth, the youngest son had to leave the family estate and live a very difficult life in a small hut.
One evening, as he sat feeling hopeless, the cat looked up at him and spoke in a soft voice. "Do not lose heart, my friend. If you can find a small silk scarf and a silver bell for me, I will change your destiny." Surprised but trusting, the young man used his very last coins to buy the silk scarf and the bell.
The next morning, the cat wrapped the silk scarf around its neck and dashed into the nearby forest. Using its magical agility, it caught fresh rabbits and brought them back to the young man. The cat prepared delicious meals for him every day. Soon, the cat realized that the King of the land had a great fondness for rabbit stew. It began bringing the finest catches to the royal palace daily.
The King became fascinated by the clever cat and treated it with great respect. One day, the cat led the young man to a sparkling lake. "Take off your clothes and step into the water," the cat commanded. The young man obeyed. When the King arrived at the lake, the cat cried out, "Your Majesty! My friend was bathing here, but a mischievous fox snatched his clothes and ran away!"
Feeling sympathetic, the King offered his own royal silk robe to the young man. When the young man stepped out of the water wearing the magnificent royal attire, he looked so dignified and noble that the King was instantly impressed. The King invited him to live in the palace and, seeing his humble nature, eventually made him his son-in-law. The young man lived a life of abundance, always remembering the little cat that had saved him.
