Near the edge of a lush forest stood a massive banyan tree. At its roots lived a tortoise named Kabilan. Kabilan was very proud of his thick, sturdy shell, believing it made him the strongest creature in the woods.
One sunny afternoon, while Kabilan was resting, he noticed a small parrot named Chittu busily weaving twigs and soft leaves into a nest high above. Kabilan looked up and asked, "Hey Chittu! Why are you working so hard on that flimsy little thing?"
Chittu replied gently, "Kabilan, my eggs will hatch soon, and my little ones will need a cozy place to sleep."
Kabilan let out a loud, mocking laugh. "A nest? It looks like it could blow away with a single breeze! Look at my shell. It is like a fortress—unbreakable and magnificent. Why would anyone choose a weak home like yours when they could have a mansion like mine?"
Chittu smiled calmly and said, "It is true that your shell is strong, Kabilan. But no one can enter it. Your home is a lonely fortress. My nest may be small, but it is filled with the songs of my friends and the warmth of my family. A home is not just about strength; it is about the love shared within it."
Kabilan fell silent. As he looked at his heavy shell, he realized that while he was safe from harm, he was also completely alone.
Moral
A small home filled with love and company is better than a grand, lonely mansion.
