In a peaceful village nestled near the mountains lived a young boy named Kavin and his mother. They lived a very simple life, growing vegetables in their small garden to make ends meet. One day, an ambitious distant relative named Somu arrived, asking Kavin to help him with a special task.
They traveled deep into a dense forest until they reached the mouth of a mysterious, dark cave. "Kavin, there are magnificent jewels inside this cave, but I am too old to enter. Go inside and bring them out for me," Somu instructed. Kavin felt a shiver of fear, but Somu handed him a stone ring. "Wear this; it will protect you from any harm," he promised.
Kavin cautiously entered the cave and found it shimmering with precious gems. He gathered as many as he could and brought them to Somu. When Kavin asked to be let out, Somu’s eyes gleamed with greed. "If the King finds out about this treasure, he will claim it all. You must stay here to keep it a secret!" Somu shouted, and he blocked the entrance, leaving Kavin trapped in the dark.
While sitting alone in the shadows, Kavin spotted an old copper lamp lying in the dust. As he wiped it clean, a massive, glowing spirit emerged from the smoke. "Do not be afraid, little friend! I am the guardian of this lamp. Tell me your heart's desire, and I shall fulfill it," the spirit boomed. Kavin, trembling, asked only to return home. With a flash of light, he found himself standing in his own kitchen.
His mother was shocked when he told his story. To prove it, Kavin brought out the lamp, and the spirit appeared before them. The spirit, sensing their kindness, provided them with plenty of food and silver vessels. Kavin wisely sold some of the silver to improve their home. Eventually, Kavin shared the discovery of the cave with the King in a way that benefited the kingdom. Impressed by his honesty, the King rewarded him greatly.
However, the greedy Somu saw an opportunity. While Kavin was busy, Somu snuck into the palace, kidnapped the Princess, and stole the magic lamp, thinking it held even more power. Kavin was heartbroken. But Kavin had been wise; he had already taught the Princess how to call the spirit. When the Princess touched the lamp, the spirit appeared instantly. "This man has committed a great crime!" she cried. The spirit immediately captured Somu and sent him to the royal dungeons, returning the Princess to the King. From then on, Kavin lived a life of honor and happiness.
