In a grand kingdom, there lived a King who had a deep fascination with the wonders of the sky. He particularly admired the majestic eagles that traveled great distances to deliver important messages between lands.
One day, a neighboring King visited the palace as a guest. As a token of friendship, he presented two beautiful, ash-colored eagles. The King was delighted and handed them over to the finest avian trainer in the land, instructing him to train them to soar high in the heavens.
Weeks later, the King returned to witness their progress. The first eagle was a marvel; it soared through heavy winds and climbed high above the clouds with incredible grace. The King was so impressed that he rewarded the trainer with a pouch of gold coins.
However, the second eagle remained motionless, perched stubbornly on a thick tree branch. It refused to even spread its wings. The King grew frustrated and angry. "Why is this bird so lazy? Is the trainer not doing his job?" he demanded.
An elderly, wise trainer stepped forward. "Your Majesty, do not lose heart. Give me a little time, and I will show you the true spirit of this eagle," he said calmly.
After a few more days, the King returned for another inspection. To his utter amazement, the second eagle was not only flying but was performing magnificent loops in the bright blue sky! The King was stunned. "How is this possible? It wouldn't move before!" he exclaimed.
The wise trainer smiled and explained, "Your Majesty, the eagle felt safe on that thick branch. It relied on the branch for support rather than its own strength. I simply removed the branch. Once the safety of the branch was gone, the eagle had no choice but to trust its own wings to stay aloft. In doing so, it discovered its true power."
The King realized that sometimes, we need to step away from our comfort zones to discover what we are truly capable of.
Moral
True strength is discovered when we stop relying on external support and trust our own abilities.
