In a large farm, there lived a farmer named Somu who owned a hardworking donkey named Bruno. One afternoon, Bruno overheard Somu whispering about selling him to a trader because he was becoming too much work to maintain. Fearing for his future, Bruno decided to make a run for it, heading toward the distant forest.
As Bruno trotted along the path, he met an old, weary dog named Rex. Rex was sitting by the roadside, looking quite miserable. 'Why the long face, friend?' Bruno asked. Rex sighed, 'I’ve grown too old to guard the farm, and now I struggle to find even a scrap of food.' Bruno smiled warmly. 'Don't lose hope! Come with me. We will head to the city and start a musical troupe. We can perform together!' Rex’s eyes lit up, and he joined Bruno on his journey.
Further down the road, they encountered a lonely old cat named Luna, who was searching for food. Without hesitation, Bruno invited her to join their growing band. Finally, a spirited rooster named Pip joined them too. They were now a strange but determined group of travelers.
As night fell, hunger began to gnaw at them. In the distance, they spotted a grand, brightly lit house. Peering through a window, they saw a group of thieves feasting on delicious food surrounded by piles of gold and jewels. Bruno had a clever idea. 'If we perform a grand concert for them, they might be so delighted that they share their feast with us!'
To reach the window, they formed a living tower: Rex stood on Bruno’s back, Luna climbed onto Rex, and Pip perched on Luna’s head. They began to make as much noise as possible. To the thieves, it didn't sound like music; it sounded like a terrifying, ghostly cacophony! Terrified that someone was coming to catch them, the thieves scrambled out of the house in a panic.
Once the house was empty, the animals entered and enjoyed a magnificent feast. After eating their fill, they settled down to sleep. However, one greedy thief crept back inside, hoping to find his lost gold. In the pitch darkness, he accidentally grabbed Luna’s tail, thinking it was a candle wick, and tried to light it. An angry Luna pounced on his face! Then, he stepped on Rex’s tail, and the dog gave him a sharp bite. Pip the rooster pecked at his head, and Bruno the donkey delivered a powerful kick to his backside.
The thief ran into the woods, screaming, 'There are giants in that house!' His terrified friends saw his bruised face and decided that the gold wasn't worth their lives. They fled to another town, leaving everything behind.
The animals, thinking the thieves had left the house as a gift for their wonderful performance, lived happily ever after in the grand mansion, enjoying all the food and comfort they could find.
