In a lush, green pond tucked away near a dense forest, a community of frogs lived in peace. Because the pond was hidden, the frogs had never encountered large animals and believed they were the masters of their world.
Among them lived a frog named Kamba. Kamba was much larger than the others and possessed a very boastful nature. Whenever a small insect flew near, Kamba would puff out his throat like a massive balloon and make a loud 'thump-thump' sound to scare them away. He loved the attention and felt like the king of the pond.
One afternoon, a massive elephant wandered toward the pond. The ground trembled with every heavy step the elephant took. Seeing this, a group of dragonflies rushed to Kamba, buzzing in alarm. 'Kamba! A giant mountain of a creature is approaching! This is your chance to show everyone how strong you are!' they cried.
Driven by pride, Kamba marched right in front of the elephant's path. To the elephant, Kamba was nothing more than a tiny speck on the ground. The elephant continued its slow, steady walk, minding its own business. But Kamba was determined to prove his greatness. He began to gulp down air, puffing his throat wider and wider to look even more imposing.
'Thump! Thump! Thump!' he echoed, trying to intimidate the giant. He pushed himself beyond his limits, stretching his skin to the absolute breaking point to match the elephant's scale. Suddenly, with a loud pop, Kamba's body could no longer hold the pressure and he burst. His vanity had led him to his own end.
Moral
Excessive pride leads to a downfall.
