In a peaceful village lived a hardworking farmer named Somu. He had three sons who were strong and healthy, but they had one major flaw: they could never agree on anything. Whether it was chores or games, they were always arguing and competing with each other. This constant fighting made Somu very sad and worried about their future.
One evening, Somu called his sons to the garden for a small lesson. He held up a single thin stick. "My sons, can you break this stick?" he asked.
The three brothers laughed. One by one, they took the stick and snapped it easily with just a little effort. "This is too easy, Father!" they boasted, feeling very proud of their strength.
Then, Somu reached for a bundle of sticks that he had tied tightly together with a thick rope. He handed the heavy bundle to his eldest son. "Now, try to break this bundle," Somu instructed.
The eldest son gripped the bundle and pulled with all his might, but the sticks wouldn't budge. The second son tried next, using even more force, but the bundle remained unbroken. Finally, the youngest son tried, but despite his strength, the tightly bound sticks were too strong to snap.
The brothers looked at their father, puzzled and exhausted. Somu smiled gently and said, "Do you see? When the sticks were alone, they were weak and easily broken. But when they were tied together, they became one strong unit that no single person could break. You three are just like these sticks. If you keep fighting, you will be weak. But if you stand together, no trouble in the world can defeat you."
The sons realized the wisdom in their father's words. From that day on, they promised to support each other and work as a team.
